This was the case with Dr. David Sinclair, who was 48 years old when a blood test revealed that his body’s “biological age” was 10 years older.

He was shocked with the results, but he reversed his biological age by following a healthy diet and eating a lot of superfoods like leafy greens and fruits.

Sinclair, a Harvard University geneticist and professor of the biology of aging, shared some information about the superfoods that helped him achieve his goal.

Sinclair started by making changes to his diet and exercise routine. After making positive lifestyle changes, he shared that he looked and felt younger than he did before.

Detailed below are the superfoods that Sinclair ate to reverse his biological age.

Eat yogurt that will boost your digestive health

Having a healthy gut is essential to longevity. This is why Sinclair eats yogurt, which helps improve his overall health.

Before, he used to get sick every few weeks. Since he started consuming yogurt regularly, his health has gotten much better.

Yogurt is full of protein and has several anti-aging effects. It helps keep your colon and digestive system healthy, which keeps your skin young.

Additionally, yogurt helps lower blood pressure. High blood pressure can contribute to hair loss, sagging skin, pigmentation, acne and reduced elasticity. When buying yogurt, choose products without added sugar for best results.

Eat veggies like leafy greens and low-glycemic fruits

A balanced diet is crucial to your well-being, especially if you want to look and feel younger. Sinclair advised that you should consume a lot of dark leafy greens, like kale, baby broccoli and Brussels sprouts.

Kale is full of iron and vitamin K, which helps prevent dark circles under your eyes. It also contains iron that can help prevent paleness that sometimes highlights skin imperfections.

Sinclair also prefers to eat low-glycemic fruits like apples as a healthy snack.

Data from research on the best fruits for weight loss revealed that apples are low-calorie but full of dietary fiber, which can also help with weight loss. Apples also contain chlorogenic acid, catechins and quercetin, three powerful antioxidants that help prevent fatigue, inflammation, high blood sugar and skin damage. Eat foods rich in “good” fats

There are good fats and bad fats. Sinclair explained that foods full of healthy fats are good for your gut and brain health.

You can enjoy cheese and yogurt in moderation. Cheese contains essential nutrients that can make you look younger. Cheese also helps reduce the risk of osteoporosis in menopausal women. This savory superfood even helps fight hypertension and heart disease.

When it comes to meat and fatty foods, Sinclair prefers fish. Fatty fish contain omega-3 fatty acids that may help reduce heart disease, ulcerative colitis and inflammation risk.

Salmon, a type of fatty fish, contains an additional component that helps make your skin look younger.

He also consumes superfoods like avocados and olive oil, which he drizzles on bread and salads.

Avocados are another superfood full of dietary fiber, heart-healthy fat and essential vitamins and minerals. They also contain compounds called polyhydroxylated fatty alcohols which help protect you from inflammation, repair damaged DNA and protect the skin from sun damage. The high amounts of antioxidants and monounsaturated fat in avocados also provide additional skin protection.

Extra virgin olive oil is one of the healthiest oils in the world. It’s full of “good” fats and antioxidants that can help reduce inflammation and oxidative damage caused by an imbalance of free radicals.

According to studies, a diet rich in olive oil is associated with a lower risk of chronic diseases, such as:

At least 73 percent of olive oil is made up of monounsaturated fats (MUFAs). Research suggests that a diet rich in MUFAs helps reduce skin aging because MUFAs have powerful anti-inflammatory effects.

Data from a 2012 study revealed that individuals who followed a diet rich in MUFAs from olive oil had a lower risk of severe skin aging. The researchers believe that the anti-inflammatory properties of both MUFAs and antioxidants in olive oil may be behind this effect.

When buying olive oil, get cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil because it’s higher in antioxidants and less processed than oils extracted using other methods.
