Medicinal and edible mushrooms could be the key to mitigating dementia, according to a study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food. Researchers from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur explored the health benefits offered by specific types of mushrooms and how they can help in attenuating neurodegenerative disorders.
The health benefits observed to have been offered by mushrooms led the researchers to conclude that these edible fungi could be considered as functional food for the mitigation of neurodegenerative diseases.
